Looking through my underwear drawer

That may seem like a silly title for a blog post however, I wanted to share some thoughts; and now that I have your attention:o) Seriously y’all, blogging and expressing the works of God, struggles, lessons learned and SO much more that a pre-racer/racer goes through is MUCH like looking through my underwear drawer!! Can I get a witness?!? :o)

What is in your underwear drawer?! The obvious answer – underwear!:) But do you go around telling the whole world all the types, sizes or colors in your drawer?! I sure don’t;o) So, let’s get this out of the way… For guys it's pretty simple, boxers or briefs. But us women, we have choices:o) There's pretty, plain, frilly, colorful, etc... the list goes on (and guys don't go blushing now - you know these facts!)

So why am I comparing blogging from a Pre-Racer/Racer’s perspective to my underwear drawer?! Well, we lay it ALL out there! Maybe not in show, but most definitely in heart! And maybe not all at first but in time, God refines us to the point of just opening our hearts and sharing some gut wrenching truths that He is revealing in us and to us. I was talking to one of my squad mates tonight about how reading people’s blogs you can see from the first few entries the progression of how God works, refines and molds us to look more like Him (changing our hearts).

I may only be 2wks into this amazing journey that has already began to alter my life, however I’ve read LOTS of blogs, I’ve heard the stories from past racers, I’ve seen the videos – The World Race journey is going to change my entire life! It hit me the other day, and I texted a friend who is a WR Alumnus:

This journey in itself, to get to WR, just might change my life and if WR changes people, I can’t imagine who I’m going to be on the flip side of this:o)

So, if I know my life is going to look so different on the other side of this journey, what do I do?! Um… WOW…that’s a loaded question! My brain automatically goes into “figure it out” mode and let’s make a plan. Then I hear a small whisper that says STOP!! Listen! Be still… and trust Me that you are meant for THIS journey! You are meant to share the inner most workings of your heart, whether good or bad, positive or negative and it is going to be hard. Change is hard. Refining is a process that is not always fun. Sharing this journey with others at times is going to be difficult. This is going to require some exposure – leaving the underwear drawer wide open for all to see. Allowing others to see what I have replaced your ideals with…

Father God, I pray that on the flip side of this amazing journey, you would be who people see in me through and through. I pray that when they see my underwear drawer wide open for all to see they see the workings of You in my life, my heart and that through that - my life would be a beautiful masterpiece of YOU!
